Uninstall.Back when it was announced as open world game it was promising, and i as many others expected game to be some like MIZZURNA FALLS from PS1 or something like later Deadly Premonition was, but less consolish, less arcadish, less japanesse and more realistic. the game suddenly felt like any other title out there. I have seen some big titles moving away from its core and loosing its identity and at the end of the day people stop carring about it.Īnother example could be The Last Of Us, the first thing that comes in mind is probably a father and daughter relationship - the time they shared together a light in the darkness. Simple things that deffine a very core of the game's identity. When we think of Alan Wake, the first thing that comes in mind is probably a flashlight, thermos, coffee, woods, ect. I'd love to see a different town like, perhaps, Watery or even, maybe, Ordinary. ![]() I think we are mostly on the same page :) I expressed a really conservative perspective indeed, but I also agree we need more than just woods what I mean is adding in new / interesting places is very welcome as long as it makes sense - story telling driven level design.įor example adding in Alan's apartment as a playable mini level was an amazing idea, just like Sparkling River Estates trailer park - amazing. If this game had even one notch lower of a story I would write it off as crap but I am consistently enthralled by the love that went into it both from a game standpoint and an homage to horror literature standpoint. It is an awesome game but certainly not perfect, though I agree, Alan Wake doesn't need to be some gung ho superhuman in the next one, the episodic structure is amazing, improved sound design and lighting just makes sense, and an even more fleshed out world would be amazing, while maybe not leaning too hard on the lore that Control has established. And lastly, I feel like perhaps the HUD could either be more streamlined like dead space, or at least a little cleaner, but that's just me. Environmental puzzles could also be designed to be much more intuitive and not solvable by my dog. Graphics aside, the gunplay/flashlight play could be infinitely more polished, environments could really use some variety, the overall tone and color palette are great, but if the sequel comes out and it is legitimately more forests and that's it, I personally would feel a little cheated. I'm sorry but while it is an incredible game with one of the best stories I've experienced thus far, this game's sequel could DEFINITELY benefit from some changes. You want no innovation on a franchise whose first game came out a decade ago and it "isn't for kids from the Tik-Tok age"? In the end of the day, we just want our old good Alan Wake game experiance, but with better graphics and sound really :D.More cutscenes, more exploration of main characters.More woods and authentic places! YES PLEASE! Mixing in different locations / time lines is ok as long as it feels right.Alan Wake is not about inovation, it's about story, atmosphere, mystery and character actor play.Attention to details and lots of easter eggs, YES PLEASE! + Invest more time in creating epic level design ( forests, towns, ect. Visual fidelity, hand crafted level design ( authentic environments ), DXR RayTracing.Be enough conservative! Keep the 'old' mostly.DON'T make Alan Wake a super hero ( no special abilities ).It's ok to room around a little to have a little bit of "open world" taste, just a little bit. Mostly linear gameplay and level design ( just like in original Alan Wake ).I will try and list my subjective points on what would make an epic Alan Wake 2 expeirance. ![]()
